We got postponed :(

Well, the Peace Corps guy told us that there were more applicants than spots, especially for married couples. As a result, we would not be leaving until January or February of 2005. We are just going to wait until next summer so that I can finish up my master's degree. Too bad we had already cancelled our apartment and not gotten jobs. Well, we will keep trying.

We Got Medical Clearance
Hello all. We got medically cleared today, March 10th. Now our applications are in the hands of the placement officer, the person who actually matches us to a country, city, and specific job. In some cases, this may not be in the Caribbean. Most likely, this will be a country in the Caribbean, with the exception of Haiti and Cuba. It's very exciting. We should hear in a couple of weeks.

Medical Exams Turned In

We finally turned in our Medical Examination Packets. From Dec. 8th, 2003 when we received it, to Jan. 20, 2004 is quite a while. But there were examinations, appointments, and hoops to jump through. Nothing was too traumatic. It feels very important, like we actually accomplished something and are on our way.

Now we wait for anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 weeks, sometimes even longer, to know if we have been medically cleared or if we have to get more tests or forms filled out. After that, we may get our invitation so we know our actual volunteer site and departure date.
